Is theTLD GR20 Distraction Device allowed at the asylum?

Opened in Feb 2009, this site offers a 35 acre game zone and due to its FIBUA status offers varied gaming experience from CQB to woodland so there is something for everyone - expect lots of bangs from IEDs, Mortors and the duo of Land Rovers make this a site to visit.

everyone in my team runs the gr20's i dont think they are that loud, heard a fair few go off
and we have one of the multibang ones which are pretty epic!
if people are worried about ears, then i would suggest ear plugs, i always carry a pair round with me.
people fire shotguns next to there ears and they rnt deaf, so surely it cant be that bad?

ill put it simply for you
throw one at me , the boot to the bollocks will be the result,,cant be that bad can it .
BTW ive shot clays for years, shows how much you know about shotgun noise levels + hearing protection.

jamie
yes you might have done your "looking into" , facts are facts, they take a 120dB charge, that aint safe in an enclosed space period.
Add in the Weight of the item when the moron Throws it for miles, add in the leap off floor when go off, add in the can NOT check what charge said moron is using (unlike a bgf where the blank case + adapter are there After the event)
then they become stupid, mainly by the morons abusing them.

net result as far as I am concerned i want a list of sites where YOU will be allowing them as they will be Removed from my playlist.
cynical ? who <me>??

well that shows your level of brain activity well, that of a caveman resort to violence because of a bang :D
we threw 2 in on one guy and his brain didnt explode, he must be super human or something.

ive seen these things since the prototype, and have used everyone theyve brought out, even the ones that rnt available to public
and my ears havent blown up yet, maybe i have supermans ears or something i dont know :?

Now then guys... Let's not start a slagging match, verbal war or anything else that you care to call it ;)

Andy has expressed his opinion on the matter kaptinmarc. Let's just leave it at that for now because wether or not they get used on site (As far as I'm aware) is at the discretion of the site operator. I'm sure a decision will be made soon enough and we can all take it from there.

Just my two pence worth gents.

And on that note, I will not be the one testing them, so as far as I am concerned they won`t be used at The Asylum, Bunker Wood or The Embassy until I have actually heard from another site owner and taken there feedback on them.

I am with Andy-d on this argument, but as Treebeard has already said, everyone is entitled to there opinion but lets not get personal.

there using them at anzio if im correct, so no doubt youl get some feed back from them, hopefully it will all go well
as having a pyro with a 1,2,3,4 second fuses is a bonus, as long fuse times can be a pain in the arse
they are excellent room clearing items

just to dreg up an old post of mine the last time the GR20 came up..

Or buy BFGs. Personnaly I would prefer to be carrying about some 9mm/.22lr/caps for in game reloads rather than both the GR20 charges and percussion caps.

Looking at it in a practical way...

BFG from Felix (last price posted here, might have gone up slightly) £70
100x9mm blanks from Felix (as above) £30
Including the cost of the BFG your first 100 uses cost you £1 (30p without cost of BFG) per bang.

GR20 from JD Airsoft £60
100 Charges+ Ignition caps £150
Including the cost of the GR20 body your first 100 uses cost you £2.10 (£1.50 without cost of GR20) per use.

So ignoring the whole issue of Data sheet, why bother? GR20s are 5 times more expensive to run but don't strike me as being 5 times cooler to use..

my left year has been damaged by a .38 BFG that landed to close to my ear. someone accidetaly dropped theirs when i was taking a long range shot and it landed about 1 foot away from my head. purely accidental and no harm intended. but it bears a reminder that accidents do happen, hence my annoyance of the volume of things that people tend to use at other sites.

the best things i have seem pyrotechnic wise in years have been the thermobarics as their at what i call a reasonable volume, the flash and puff of smoke also add to the effect. its a shame that these seem to be overlooked by reusable nade mfrs whilst they seem to be having a db dick waving contest.. i have noticed every new kid on the block seems to be advertising X DB (x more than so and so's)
